Jobs Dashboard

Jobs is the default tab of the Activity page (/activity/jobs) and gives a unified view of all background processing tasks across the system. It aggregates multiple job types into one list with summary cards, a type filter, and cancellation controls. The old /jobs address still works and redirects here.

Job Types

Boot Image Builds

Tracks the build status of WinPE boot images:

  • Core builds - Full ISO builds with oscdimg
  • Relay builds - WIM-only builds for relay sites (triggered by PXE activation)

Status progression: Queued > Building > Completed/Failed/Cancelled

WIM Customization Jobs

Tracks Windows image customization jobs created from the Create Windows Image wizard:

  • ISO mounting and edition extraction
  • AppX debloat
  • Windows Update application
  • Feature enablement
  • Final WIM export

Driver Downloads

Tracks OEM catalog driver downloads from HP, Dell, and Lenovo:

  • Windows drivers - Downloaded from the Windows Drivers page
  • WinPE drivers - Downloaded from the WinPE Drivers page

Status progression: Queued > Downloading > Extracting > Registering > Completed/Failed/Cancelled

Relay Sync Status

Shows the sync state of relay sites, including last sync time and any pending content.

Relay Upgrades

Tracks in-place relay upgrade jobs queued from the Relay Sites page (per-site, Upgrade All, or automatically during a maintenance window). Each row shows the site, the version transition (current > target), and a status badge:

Status progression: Pending > Downloading > Installing > Restarting > Completed/Failed/RolledBack/Cancelled

RolledBack means the relay installed the update but the new version failed to start, so it restored the previous binaries automatically. Jobs can be cancelled while still Pending or Downloading. See Sites Management for how upgrades are triggered and delivered.

Dashboard Layout

Summary Cards

The top of the page shows aggregate counts:

  • Active - Jobs currently in progress
  • Completed - Successfully finished jobs
  • Failed - Jobs that encountered errors

Type Filter

A count-badged type select filters by job type: All, Boot Images, Windows Images, Driver Downloads, Relay Syncs, Relay Upgrades, and ISO Detections. The choice is in the address (/activity/jobs/{type}), so a filtered view can be linked. Anything that fails here also raises a line on the Dashboard's alert hero, so a failed build is visible without opening this tab.

Job Details

Each job row displays:

  • Job name and type badge
  • Status badge (color-coded)
  • Time-ago timestamps (created, completed)
  • Duration tracking
  • Links to detail pages where applicable

Cancellation

Active jobs display a Cancel button that:

  1. Signals the JobCancellationService to propagate a CancellationToken to the running background task
  2. The token is checked at key points during downloads, extractions, WIM operations, and boot image builds
  3. On cancellation, partial files are cleaned up automatically
  4. The job status is set to Cancelled

Cancel keys follow the convention:

  • DriverDownloadKey({id}) for driver downloads
  • WimJobKey({id}) for WIM customization
  • BootImageKey({id}) for boot image builds
  • RelayBootImageKey({id}) for relay boot image builds

Auto-Refresh

The Jobs page updates in real time via SignalR. Job status changes are pushed to connected clients without manual page refresh.
